The Enduroman 5-Iron takes you across an extremely demanding bike
course on open roads and a run course along a challenging and undulating

dictates that solo athletes will not compete from between 3 hours
before first light and first light. This also ensures the
safety of the athlete out on the courses.

Starting at first light, athletes will cycle 160 miles on
a 1-lap out-and-back course. The route will start and finish
from the campsite near Fowey, and must be completed in 21 hours
or less. Be prepared for this bike course. It is one of the toughest
courses in the world. You have been warned!
From Fowey, the course heads, up the famous St Austell bypass climb,
through Roche to join the coastal roads on the north coast at Portreath.
The course then passes through Hayle, St Ives, St Just to the turnaround
point at Lands End. On 4th and final day of the bike, the course
will finish at Land's End, support crews will transport the athletes
back to the campsite.
Days 6-7 - The run:
Starting at first light, athletes will run 131 miles on a 10-lap
out-and-back course. The route will start and finish from
Polkaris Beach and must be completed in 60 hours or less.
 |
The
run course will be held on the South West Coast path.
This is a very demanding and undulating trail with breathtaking
views of the coast line and the Atlantic Ocean. You need
to know that this is going to be tough. Really tough.
But after all... this is Enduroman! |

West Coast Path |
The
athlete village for the run will be at Polkerris. Here support
crews can set up, waiting for their athletes to return after each
lap. Enduroman will be using the grounds of the Polkerris
Beach Company.
On site will be a cafe providing hot and cold food and drinks (and
Cornish pasties of course!) Polkerris Beach Company provide
water sport facilities and there is a public house and sea food
restaurant immediately next to the athlete village. With access
to the private beach for all support crews and spectators, there
will be plenty to occupy support crews, families and children.
From
Polkerris runners will head west along the coastal path, along Par
Beach (pictured above - right), up over Carlyon Bay golf course
(below - left) to the turn-around point at Charlestown. Athletes
will then retrace their steps back to Polkerris to complete each
lap.
The run course is
multi-terrain involving trails, grass, tarmac paths, woodland
and sand. In inclement weather the course can become muddy
in places and the weather can be unpredictable at best.

 |
Both
bike and run courses can be described as breathtaking, extremely
challenging and hardcore which will test all the challengers to their
endurance limits.
