Arch to Arc

The Enduroman Arch to Arc is a challenge that connects two of the world's most beautiful cities by running, swimming and cycling.

The event starts with an 87 mile run from London's Marble Arch to Dover. Then the athletes must swim across the English Channel to the French coast. Finally the athletes finish with a 181-mile bike from Calais to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. The Arch to Arc timing clock starts at Marble Arch and stops at Arc de Triomphe.

Is This For Me?
The Enduroman Arch to Arc is an extreme event. SOLO athletes that choose to accept this challenge will be experienced in ultra distance events. Proof of long runs, long swims and long bikes will be required prior to all attempts at the Arch to Arc being accepted by Enduroman. The Federation / Association that govern Channel swimming will require proof of a minimum 6-hour sea swim in temperatures of 16 degrees or less in the year of your attempt. RELAY teams, each runner, swimmer and cyclist competes in pre-arranged durations. Enduroman has a taken two person husband and wife team also three person all men’s teams and other variants. Teams may include two to six athletes. Relay team members should be comfortable over an Olympic distance triathlon and will complete a 2-hour qualification swim in the year of their attempt. All Athletes may use a wetsuit for the swim stage.

Race Director Edgar Ette designed and completed the first solo Enduroman Arch to Arc crossing and held the record for more than 10 years. He and his team will be involved with you and your event planning right from the day you have been accepted for the challenge. Bookings for 2018 - 2019 can be reserved
It is now possible to reserve a booking during 2018- 2019 by initially completing the interested athletes form, which can be seen on Useful links. The charge to book is £300 to be paid to Enduroman. The acceptance of your booking does not guarantee you an Arch to Arc position, as Enduroman will not accept any athlete that does not participate in some of the training offered or reach the level we deem necessary to have a chance at success at this life changing experience.


Due to the demand to attempt the Arch to Arc there is now a selection process to ensure athletes are serious and at a level to have a realistic chance of success,

Entry Procedure

Getting to the start and finish ln chronilogical order

  • Ensure you have read the relevant pages to Arch to Arc and understand what you are entering into.
  • Email Enduroman at enduroweb@hotmail.com registering your interest. Enduroman will email you a booking form
  • Return the completed booking form with a fee of £300 to reserve a booking during 2018 – 2019. The booking fee is non - transferable to the following year and non - refundable unless not accepted by the Enduroman team for an attempt during the year of your choice.
  • If your booking is accepted the Enduroman contract will be emailed to you approx a year before your attempt.
  • If you are a relay team, decide who will be your team captain that person will then become Enduroman's only point of contact from this point onwards
  • You return the Enduroman contract by post and make pay the online deposit of £1500 non-refundable. The Enduroman Contract and deposit must be completed and returned within 14 days from when sent to you
  • Enduroman will allocate an available Boat pilot to you from the list of Channel crossing pilots and inform them of your booking
  • Enduroman or the Pilot will email you your Boat Pilot contract as soon as it is available. (You are contracting the pilot to escort you during the swimming section of the Arch to Arc Challenge)
  • You return the contract to the boat pilot by post with a scanned copy emailed to Enduroman
  • The full Enduroman balance paid by January of the year of your attempt or 6 months prior to your attempt (£1500 solo / £1500 relay)
  • 1st January onwards in the year of your attempt. The Channel swimming organisation CS&PF will email you (CS&PF sanction wetsuit swims only) and ask you to go online and complete membership and swim registration forms and download medical forms.
  • Medical forms returned to the Channel swimming Governing body with scanned copy to Enduroman by March 31st (collectively by your team captain if a relay)
  • You pay all CSPF / CSA membership and swim registration fees
  • You organise your logistics (with advice from us) Accommodation, Vehicle, Support, Drivers.
  • Swim departure and run start time / date provisionally confirmed by Enduroman
  • Solo athletes complete an observed 6-hour swim (2-hours for relay teams) in water 16 degrees Celsius in race year
  • Identify and modify your vehicles for French roads
  • Ensure ferry or tunnel crossings and hotels are finalised (contact Enduroman prior to any bookings)
  • Final confirmation of your run start & swim start times given during the days leading to your attempt. (Start is weather dependant)
  • Check in and briefing at Marble Arch
  • Run starts from London's Marble Arch and the clock does not stop until Paris
  • The A2A is complete when the cyclist arrives in Paris at the Arc de Triomphe
  • The clock stops and time recorded
  • You are an Enduroman
