Edgar was born in Shirley, Southampton. When he left
school he went to live in Kent, where he met and married
Lynn and returned to Portland.
At first he worked in a local quarry, but he was always
seeking sporting challenges and so changed his job to
become a swimming pool attendant. He was really hooked
on sport after his first triathlon, and having become
the Pool Manager at H.M.S. Boscawen he formed a
triathlon club and competed at establishment level, with
and against the R.N. P.T. staff.
He Joined the Royal Marine Reserves and competed as a
member of the R. M. team.
Edgar then moved to Lanzarote and worked as a sports
organiser for a hotel complex. He competed in the
Lanzarote Ironman and did so much open-water swimming
and canoeing that he became known as The Human Shark
Returning home to put his daughter through college, he
rejoined Boscawen and the R.M. reserves, and set his
sights on the English Channel.
Having made a successful channel swim in 1997 he now knew he was
ready to attempt the The Arch to
Arc. At that time it was a team event, and although not
picked for any of the teams, he knew many of the team
athletes and decided to make a solo attempt.
After three years of planning and failing, he finally
achieved his goal in 2001 and found himself listed in
the Guinness Book of Records.
From that success has sprung the challenge he is now
offering you, The Enduroman Arch 2 Arc Challenge. It will
test you to the limit, but when you succeed the feeling
will be fantastic.
Edgar says; I have run roads, multi-terrain, marathons
and more. I have swum open water, lakes and pools.
Dived, cycled, canoed. From the first day of taking up
sport, I have always set myself realistic targets and
worked towards them. I have had failures along the way,
but have always returned to the challenge. I have many
fantastic memories, and have experienced the great
satisfaction one can only get after an arduous personal
search.. Start today and set your goals.
Edgar achieved his record breaking Arch to Arc in 81
hours 5 minutes
He now throws down the gauntlet to anyone who wishes to
challenge that record.
