27-03-08 Update to Run Route |
With a view to making the run course more enjoyable for the
athletes, Enduroman have made a slight change to the run course.
Instead of 52 out and back laps, athletes will now run 42 circular
laps with only the route out of the leisure centre being repeated
each lap. The route now follows a trail through woods which
parallels the original course on its right. At the end of the
trail, athletes will turn right and join the original route back
into the leisure centre.
Athletes will now need to wear head torches during the dark hours,
but this will add to the enjoyment of the event.
We have also uploaded an alternate Bike Route onto the
Info Page. Please
make yourselves familiar with this route if you visit the area prior
to the race as we will use this route in the event of unforeseen
circumstances. |

24-02-08 - Sports Nutrition Giants High 5 confirmed for DIUK |

Enduroman can confirm that High 5 will be the nutrition supplier for
the DIUK. Both sports drink and energy gels will be on the aid
stations. The sports drink is a high carbohydrate drink mix
for maximum energy.
|

Chase
Race are holding a local sprint triathlon at the Enduroman Double
Iron UK location on Sunday 4th May 2008. The swim and bike
routes are the same (the DIUK bike route extends a further 3/4 of a

The
Holiday Inn Express is now the recommended hotel for the event.

10-11-07 Change of location |
Enduroman has
been contacted by the Highways Agency, and they informed us that
they have recently made a decision to start major road works on the
A5 near Cannock in August 2008. They are unable to provide an exact
date. For the last 2 weeks, we have been looking at alternative
bike routes in the area. Unfortunately, there is not an alternative
course that will be provide the safety
that the event requires.
The good news is that we have confirmed a new site, only 10 miles
from Cheslyn Hay. The Friary Grange Leisure Centre is located on
the A51 in Lichfield, Staffordshire. There will be far less traffic
on the bike route than at Cheslyn Hay. The A51 has wide
carriageways and the route will contain the new ring-road system
around Rugeley, which is smooth, flat and fast. There is a ‘cheeky
hill’ leading down into Rugeley, but this adds to the character of
the course.
Full details of the courses will be updated onto the website
shortly.
We have checked the returns policies of the event hotels advertised
on the links page of our website and all competitors can be given a
full refund. We are currently talking to the Holiday Inn, near
Lichfield to ascertain if they can accommodate the athlete’s needs
(early breakfast etc).

The
Double Iron UK 2008 needs your help. As the event may last up to 40
hours, we need as many helpers and marshals as possible to ensure
the smooth running of this Ultra Triathlon event. The athletes
will be cycling and running through the night and into the next day.
To add to the athlete's unique experience, please lend a hand in
supporting them and the event.
